15mm Swedes |
I put this army together to be an opponent for my 15mm Poles…the
Winged Hussars needed someone to run down after all!
The Essex figures are very nice. The only problem I have with them is the
“fire hose” looking pikes that bend all over the place at the
slightest touch. If I every have an opportunity, I’ll go back and
replace the pikes with brass wire.
I primed this army black and painted over it. It looks OK…my painting
has gotten better since I did this army. The army consists of: 3 light guns,
2 medium guns, 1 heavy gun, 4 stands of dragoons, 3 stands of cuirassier,
12 stands of pikemen, 21 stands of musketeers, 17 stands of cavalry, 3 stands
of baggage, and 2 generals’ stands.
I used this army for DBR a couple of times, and then gave up on that system.
For want of something fun, I searched the ‘net and found the Lion
of the North rules at the “freewargames.uk” site (I haven’t
been there in a while, so I don’t know what is still up there). LON
though was meant for armies of the same size and having just one general,
and I wanted something bigger with more diversity of command. I settled
on some pretty standard wargames mechanisms when modifying the rules. A
copy of my modified version of LON along with the army list for the Swedes
is present on this site. A big thanks to the NorthPhoenixIrregulars for
their help in getting the rules to where they are now.
