15mm Cartha

Figures: Museum Miniatures, Essex, and Minifigs
Painting: Tom O.
Galleys and Tents: Fred B.
Basing: Tom O.

This is my first 15mm army for wargaming ancients. After doing micro-armor and Napoleonics for a couple of years, I got bit by the ancients bug when I went to a local shop and saw some guys playing DBM. I quickly jumped in and started painting. I used black undercoating for the entire army. It’s not bad, but I feel my painting has gotten better since I did these…the Gauls in particular are pretty bad! The army is configured so it can be used for both Early Carthaginians (some chariots) and Later Carthaginians. I’ve had ok luck with it and won about one-half of the games I’ve played with it. There isn’t much more I can add to this army, so I consider it complete.

The army consists of: 8 stands Libyan javelinmen, 6 stands Balearic slingers, 4 stands Spanish caetrati, 8 stands Spanish scuttari, 4 stands Spanish cavalry, 8 stands Numidian light cavalry, 20 stands of Gallic infantry, 4 Punic Chariots, 3 Elephants, 6 stands Gallic cavalry, 6 stands Campanian infantry, 4 stands Greek mercenaries, 4 stands Punic infantry, 23 stands African infantry, 4 stands Italian spear, 1 stand Bruttian infantry, 2 stands artillery, 4 stands Punic cavalry, 3 stands Generals, 2 galleys, and miscellaneous baggage.
